Wushang Mall Sees First Student-Run Alpaca Livestream

NANCHANG, Oct. 4 — A first joint livestream sales show by the Tongtu Livestream Studio of the SFL of JUFE and  Pacific Alpaca(an alpaca-wool brand) went live on the afternoon of Oct. 4 at Wushang Mall on Nanchang’s Bayi Square. The show is a practical step of the two sides’ joint school-enterprise training program, and a clear example of the school’s “T-shaped” way of educating business English students — The vertical line for deep skill in one field; the horizontal line for the ability to work across different fields.

All hosts and co-hosts of the show were students of the school. In front of the camera, they made full use of their language training and introduced the brand’s high-end products to online viewers in fluent Chinese and English, including coats and quilts made of 100 percent alpaca wool. They talked about everything from the qualities of alpaca fiber and fine stitching to value for money and the best uses of each product. With clear roles and close teamwork, the students put what they had learned in business English and cross-border marketing classes into a real e-commerce setting. They answered viewers’ questions actively and kept the whole show lively, reaching all targets set for the first broadcast.

As a key training platform built together with industry partners, the Tongtu Livestream Studio works under the idea of “mastering languages to reach the business world,” and tries to break down the wall between classroom teaching and real-life practice. The cooperation with Pacific Alpaca is a new attempt by the platform to build up students’ cross-cultural communication and new-media marketing skills through true-to-life livestream projects.

Bringing the classroom into the livestream room and letting students face the real market is a key step in training T-shapedand work-ready graduates. The first show not only completed the training chain from theory to practice, but also laid a firm base for closer cooperation between the school and the company. Going forward, the two sides will keep widening their work and try new models such as helping Chinese brands go global and running cross-border livestream training programs, so that more students can grow into T-shaped business English talents with both a global vision and real hands-on ability.
