July 13-20, 2025, Jiangxi hosted the Belt and Road Journalists’ Forum and field visits. Nearly 100 media leaders from over 50 countries came to “Ganpo Land” to talk and see how China is modernizing. The theme was “Promoting Civilizations Dialogue and Global Modernization with Power of Journalists.”
The organizers asked JUFE for help. Teacher Xiao Rui led a team of 14 students. They translated more than 50,000 Chinese characters of forum booklets and site introductions. They also gave one-to-three (or four) guide-interpreting for 26 guests from Latin America and the Middle East. Each student helped at more than ten interviews. No mistakes, no complaints.
At Master Bao Food Co. and Wenchangli old street, volunteers Zhou Yu and Xu Hui-ling told the story of “Zixi bread” in Portuguese and explained the love story in The Peony Pavilion and the dream plays in English. Guests said, “Chinese stories come alive because of you!”
Jiangxi International Media Center posted the story Sincerity Is the Best Language, praising the volunteers’ solid language skill, rich knowledge, quick thinking and warm hearts, calling “Jiangxi warmth” the best memory of the event. The school says the work shows its answer to the Belt and Road, the “Culture Going Out” plan and the university’s strategy of “going digital, global and green”. It will keep keep training high-level language talent for China and Jiangxi by building an integrated talent-training model that teams up government, business, universities and research institutes.
