On the afternoon of September 13, Liu Yaobin, Party Secretary of JUFE, paid a visit to the School of Foreign Languages to conduct research and guidance work.
Liu Yaobin firstly conveyed the key points of the National Education Conference. He emphasized that with industrial technological advancements and the increasing accessibility of education, traditional foreign language teaching models face significant challenges. He highlighted three characteristics of SFL: the first is its essential feature—staying open and inclusive. If this was not achieved, then it would become out of date. The second is moderate in size and limited in resources. As a mid-sized school, it must, under the guidance of national and social needs, strike a balance between cultivating talents and meeting the demands of society. The third is its spirit of self-improvement and the pursuit of progress. The reduction in foreign language courses’ credit is of great significance. Instead of resisting this change, SFL has embraced it, demonstrating a willingness to reform. Its proactive actions in promoting a tiered system in university English courses reflect a global outlook. Finally, Liu Yaobin extended the wishes that each member of SFL would take responsibility and make new contributions in the new journey of university’s third reform phase.
Zhang Xifeng, Dean of SFL, gave a detailed report from six aspects: the history of school's development, faculty, reforms in university English courses, major development, scientific research, and talent cultivation. Tu Yuanwu, Party Secretary of SFL, gave supplementary remarks on Party-building and student organization work. Other members of the school's leadership gave brief reports.
