Zeng Jianping, vice president of Foreign Languages Faculty in JUFE, director of Translators Association of China and China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese, vice president of Translators’ Association of Jiangxi. Besides, he has some part-time headships such as member of the first discipline assessment groups of the academic degree committee of the JiangxiProvince, specially recruited senior translator of laws and regulations in the legislative affairs office of people’s government of JiangxiProvince, and proofreader of English abstracts in three university journals. He has published more than 80 papers on Chinese Translators Journal, Chinese Science & Technology Translators Journal, Foreign Languages and Their Teaching and other authorized academic journals, accomplished 18 research projects at provincial and ministerial level, and compiled 8 textbooks and 2 academic works. As a fertile translator, Professor Zeng has translated various works totaling over 4 million words.
Wu Ke, supervisor of postgraduate, English editor of Economic Translation for 12 years. Her translation of Henry James’ masterpiece The Portrait of a Lady won her the third prize in the 10th Jiangxi provincial awards for outstanding achievement in the Social Sciences. Inspired by Saussure’s theory, she furthered her study on The Portrait of a Lady, and published the thesis of “A Dance on the Signified Net: Reflections on the Translation of The Portrait of a Lady” on Chinese Translators Journal, which won her the second prize in the 14th Jiangxi provincial awards for outstanding achievement in the Social Sciences. Furthermore, Professor Wu is an authorized Chinese mainland translator of both The Lord of the Rings, a world renowned works by J. R. R. Tolkien, an ancient Anglo-Saxon professor in OxfordUniversity and The Broker written by American popular writer John Grisham. She is also the chief translator of Chinese Culture ABC which is used as a text book for Chinese learners in AmericanUniversities and global Confucius Institutes. As an eminent translator, she has translated various literary works totaling more than 2 million words.
Pan Qinghua, an experienced professor on College English teaching, has won the honor of being young/mid-aged backbone teacher in Jiangxi institutions of higher learning and Top Ten Teacher in JUFE. She has compiled 4 textbooks and reference books and published over 30 papers, among which “Oral English Teaching: Highlight of College English Teaching Reform” won her the third prize in the 5th Jiangxi provincial awards for youth outstanding achievement in the Social Sciences. Professor Pan also presided over or participated in 12 research projects at provincial and ministerial level, some of which were awarded the first prize in JUFE awards for teaching achievement and the third prize in Jiangxi awards for teaching achievement.
Chen Haihua, an experienced professor on Business English, has won the honor of being young/mid-aged backbone teacher in Jiangxi institutions of higher learning in 2007. Her paper “Linguistic utility and its constraints: Creation of English Advertising Taglines and their Translation” won the third prize in the 12th Jiangxi provincial awards for outstanding achievement in the Social Sciences. The research project named Construction of Multirole Interaction Teaching and Learning Mode: Exploration from the Pilot Project of College English Teaching Reform by Education Ministry” won her the first prize in the11th Jiangxi provincial awards for outstanding teaching achievement. As a teaching reform pioneer, her research projects of “Study on College English Experiencing Teaching Mode in Campus Network”, “Practice of Multirole Interaction Teaching and Learning Mode in College English Teaching Reform”, and “Study and Practice of Simulation Learning of Oral Business English” have won her the first prize respectively in the 10th, 11th, and 12th JUFE awards for outstanding teaching achievement.
Liu Youfa, member of International Association of Applied Linguistics, director of China Australian Studies Association, standing director of Jiangxi Foreign Language Association. He has won the honor of being young/mid-aged backbone teacher in Jiangxi institutions of higher learning and Top Ten Teacher in JUFE. In 1999, he paid a one-year academic visit to ?xml:namespace>Australia’s NationalUniversity and in 2003 he got master degree in University of South Australia. Recently, he published more than 20 papers, compiled 2 textbooks, and accomplished 5 research projects at provincial and ministerial level. Professor Liu’s major research fields include applied linguistics and study on Australia. Being a popular teacher, he has set up about 20 courses about English listening, speaking, reading and writing for undergraduates and postgraduates.
Ji Dafang, an experienced MBA teacher, has acted as translator for loan projects of World Bank and Asian Development Bank for several years, and is examiner for oral English in the BEC examination in Jiangxi province. His major research field includes British and American literature, MBA case teaching and business English. He has published more than 10 monographs and translated works, such as How to Appreciate British Literature and Ethics in Decision Making, and more than 20 papers, such as “The Range in the Creation of Characters”, “Archetypal Field in the Apple Garden”, “On the Curriculum Design of Case Study”, “On the Strategic Orientation of International Project Tendering” and “E-commerce’s Way to Success in the Age of Reform”. In addition, Professor Ji accomplished two provincial projects financed by China Scholarship Council, namely, Study on MBA Case-based Teaching and Study on the Application of Case-based Teaching to Undergraduates in Lecture Hall.
Cao Jiuping, a popular English teacher, has published several papers, “Affiliated Information Conveyed by Language”, “Status quo of Postgraduate Public English Teaching and Countermeasures” and “Foreign Language Teaching: Unity of Technique and Art”. She is one of the editors of Practical College English IV, which is regarded as “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” National level official textbook, and sub-editor of Modern English: Listening Course, which won the second prize in East China’s award for outstanding textbooks.
